ECS are experts in the field of high voltage cable engineering. Our team of Project Managers, Engineers, Jointers, Technicians and support staff can provide a service for design, supply, installation, jointing, test and commission of high voltage cable systems.
ECS maintains a directly employed team of 24 high voltage cable Jointers and Technicians. Our preference is to use in-house resource where possible.
XLPE Cable Jointing
ECS Jointing staff are trained, competent and experienced in jointing of XLPE cable systems up to 400kV. ECS owns and operates the necessary tooling required by each accessory manufacturer.
ECS staff have attended training and have accreditations for the following:
- LS Cable & Systems
- NKT
- Pfisterer
- Arkasil
- TE
- Taihan
- 3M
Following the acquisition of Ericsson by NKT ECS was able to incorporate their range of cables and accessories in the portfolio and continue to provide the support and products that customers had become used to. ECS continues to work with NKT, LS Cables and other partners in the UK and worldwide for the installation of cables and accessories up to 400kV.
Cable and accessory supply is supported by a skilled and competent installation team comprising Project Managers, Engineers, Jointers and Technicians delivering cable installation projects including civil works, cable installation, jointing, test and commission.
Oil & Gas Filled Cable Jointing
ECS jointing staff can assemble oil filled cable accessories up to 400kV.
ECS Engineers can design and manage the installation of hydraulic systems including diversions, extensions, routine replacement and maintenance or emergency fault works.
We maintain both mobile and static oil processing plant to undertake impregnation of the oil filled accessory post jointing or to reinstate oil pressures on the system.
Offshore
ECS maintains offshore certifications for the installation team to service the offshore renewables and oil/gas industries.
Our team has experience of offshore cable installation, jointing and test on Array and Export cable installations as well as umbilical and high voltage interconnector cables.
We have the facility to undertake fault location and repair works.
Civil Works & Cable Installation
ECS have an in-house team experienced in the civil works required for the installation of high voltage cable systems including trenching, duct laying, joint bay construction, foundations, steelwork etc.
The in-house team can also undertake the installation of high voltage cables with experience of direct burial, ducting, tunnels or substation basements.
The team can take on the role of Principal Contractor providing a full turnkey supply, install, joint, test, commission and project management service.
Faults & Maintenance
ECS operates a 24/7/365 Emergency Faults Line for rapid response to customer outages.
We are currently contracted to a number of the major windfarms in the UK and worldwide to maintain a state of readiness for immediate response to a fault situation.
